Help Leia Find a Safe Place to Land

At Las Vegas K9 Crew Rescue, our mission is simple: step in when dogs and families need support the most. Today, we are asking our community to come together for a local family facing an incredibly difficult moment — and for a dog who deserves stability, love, and care while her family navigates a serious crisis.

A Clark County School District Police Officer, Officer Riley, is currently hospitalized and facing severe health challenges. During this overwhelming time, his wife is caring for their two-year-old triplets on her own, doing everything she can to keep their family moving forward while supporting her husband’s recovery.

In the middle of this hardship, the family has made a heartbreaking but responsible decision: to find a safe and loving home for their beloved dog, Leia.

This decision was not made lightly.

Leia is deeply loved, and the family simply wants to ensure she receives the time, stability, and care she deserves while they focus on healing and supporting Officer Riley.

Meet Leia

Leia is a beautiful 6-year-old Lab/Heeler mix, weighing about 80 pounds, with a sleek black coat and sweet white markings on her chest. She is spayed and up-to-date on her vaccinations as of January, though she may need a quick booster soon.

Leia currently eats specialized food and takes bladder medication once or twice daily. Her family has one bottle remaining and will help ensure a smooth transition for her next caregiver.

Personality-wise, Leia is a loyal and loving companion. She does well with other dogs, though she can be a little protective over food and toys, which is not uncommon. While she has been living with the family’s young triplets, Leia can experience anxiety in busy environments.

Because of this, we believe she would thrive best in a calmer home with older children or adults who can provide structure, patience, and love.

An Urgent Need for a Foster Home

Right now, K9 Crew Rescue is urgently searching for a foster home for Leia while we work to find the right forever family.

Fostering would provide Leia with a safe and stable place during this transition while giving her current family peace of mind during an incredibly challenging time.
