Las Vegas K9 Crew Rescue was built from one woman’s refusal to look away.
Founded by Kristi Cabena, a lifelong animal advocate, this organization was created to answer a growing crisis across the Las Vegas Valley. For years, Kristi has been on the front lines — responding to urgent calls, rescuing injured and abandoned dogs, and stepping in when there were no other options. This work isn’t new to her. It’s who she is.
Through firsthand experience, Kristi witnessed the overwhelming need — overcrowded shelters, dogs being euthanized due to lack of space, and countless animals abandoned in the desert with no chance of survival. She saw how stretched existing resources had become, and how many dogs were still being left behind. Instead of accepting that reality, she built something to change it.
Las Vegas K9 Crew Rescue exists to provide immediate, lifesaving intervention for dogs in crisis. The organization focuses on emergency rescue, foster-based rehabilitation, and creating a path forward for dogs who would otherwise have none.

Step 1
Rescue
The easiest part — because there are always dogs in need. We respond when others can’t, bringing lost, abandoned, and at-risk dogs to safety.
Step 2
rebuild
This is where the real work begins. Medical care, emotional healing, and trust take time — and resources. We rely on donations, fosters, and a community of supporters who believe in second chances as much as we do.
Step 3
rehome
The bittersweet part. Letting go is never easy, but seeing our dogs thrive in loving homes reminds us why we do what we do. Each happy ending fuels our mission to keep going.
Our Mission
We exist for the dogs who have no one else. Our mission is to rescue abandoned, injured, and at-risk dogs, give them a second chance through compassionate care, and rebuild their health and spirit so they can be successfully rehomed into loving families where they finally feel safe. Every life we save is a story rewritten.
